Just northeast of Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, also referred to as the City of Roses, is known for its combination of culture, history and architecture as well as its advances in science and technology. Most notably, Pasadena is home to some of the most prestigious intellectual institutions in the country such as NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and The California Institute of Technology (CalTech). It’s also known for having The Rose Bowl stadium, which has been a stage for artists like Michael Jackson, among many others, and hosts the annual Rose Bowl Game as well as many other sports and entertainment events. When the Rose Bowl isn’t hosting various sporting events, it’s home to one of the largest flea markets in the country, the Rose Bowl Flea Market, which has become a staple in the community since it began. Pasadena also has the modern Norton Simon Museum, which hosts a noted collection of European and Asian art. The area is also close to the Arlington Garden, Descanso Gardens, the Los Angeles County Arboretum, the Santa Anita Park and more. Old Town Pasadena is a historic shopping, dining and entertainment area that’s filled with restaurants like the Cheesecake Factory, Mi Piace, True Food Kitchen and more. This area is mostly known for its Victorian style and art deco buildings. Not far away from the shopping and dining district are beautiful hiking trails like Eaton Canyon Falls, which is a family-friendly hike that leads to a waterfall.
